My Style Philosophy
so for today's post i want to share a little overview of my thoughts behind what i wear. i don't blog because i think i'm so amazing that everyone should dress exactly like me, i blog because i want to inspire you to create your own versions of outfits that make you feel confident in your own skin and reflect who you are as a woman ! i'm a firm believer in restyling pieces and mixing it up within my closet to get the most out of my outfits. i'm not an outfit repeater for the most part, but i don't buy new clothes all the time ! i think you should only invest in jewelry and purses. here's my reasoning, jewelry is classic and it helps you look and feel put together AND purses, depending on the style you pick, can go with anything and if you get a good quality bag, it will last you years.
i gathered a bunch of instagram photos that i've posted from about july until now. i think these best represent who i am and what my style is all about ! so scroll through and read the brief explanations for each one to help spark some ideas to create new outfits with your existing wardrobe.
i love this floral dress. it's so girly, but the tie on the side adds some personality to it. i like to color coordinate to bring attention to the pattern of the dress. so i went with silver jewelry, a pink purse, and white shoes, all colors within the dress.
for summer, i love solid color shorts with fun tops and cute sandals. it's so easy and the shorts are dressy enough to go to dinner with friends or go to grill out and swim. i've had these solid color shorts for 2 years now, my point is, they haven't gone out of style.
the outfit itself is kind of dressy, but because of the tie on the shirt and i straightened my hair instead of curled it, i was able to dress down this look enough to wear actual heels with this instead of wedges or flats. this is a great date night outfit if you want to curl your hair and tuck in the ties and throw on a belt ! also, these are the best jeans, they're stretchy and high waisted from Old Navy.
i love this top. you can wear this shirt so many ways. i've worn it like so (high waisted jeans and tucking in the front) and i've worn it with solid color shorts. this top is simple, but the dimension adds a little extra flare to it !
this top is so trendy, i love it. here i paired it with my favorite jeans and some black block heels for church on sunday. this kimono is old from Aeropostale but i still wear it all the time. this outfit is trendy with or without the kimono.
THIS OUTFIT IS ONE OF MY FAVS !!! i love love love this color combo. that sweater is actually a friend's, but i'm on the hunt for a good yellow sweater since it's so in this fall. i posted my hair on my instagram story that day because the bandana i had in, tied it all together. that bandana was $1 from walmart y'all. i created this entire look based off of that bandana lol. three words: navy, brown, yellow
back at it with this kimono, y'all i'm telling ya, i love this thing. that collared shirt is from like 2014 and i'm still styling it. the beaded collar is so feminine and unique. i'm definitely on the platform espadrille train. i love them, but haven't found any that aren't super expensive and are still cute. these are like 1 inch platform espadrilles from Target so if you find any that are cute and are less than $30, DM me please lol
y'all. these mules. i got these for $6 at TJMaxx. and they're Dolce Vita. and this is denim on denim. enough said.
back at it with the denim on denim. you can't see, but i'm wearing a blue and green flannel under this so i was able to cuff the jacket and the flannel together. denim with Converse is just so cute. #LOVE
usually i like contrast in my outfits. like, dark jeans with a light top or vice versa. but with this, i really really liked the light color structured sweater with the light wash boyfriend jeans. i added the black and pop of red to give it some dimension and make it more interesting, because let's be real, sometimes monochromatic is just boring !
this was my birthday outfit and yeah i kinda did feel like an elf, but did i care ?! no, not even a little. haha, anyway this is a great modern take on the peplum style top from 2015. the colors and buttons give me an Urban Outfitters vibe, but it was only $10.99 from TJMaxx !
as i start my 19th year, i want to vow to make it the best year so far. grow closer to the Lord, make really good friends, and make a million memories !! i can't wait to see what this year has in store and i'm so thankful that i have all of you be part of this journey.
here's to the best year yet!
