How To: Messy Bun
happy March y'all !!!! for the first post this month I am going to fulfill what I promised y'all a while back that I would show y'all how I do my messy buns since I do them the same way every time. I put the videos on my instastories & I'm going to walk through the steps a little bit here too. so, as promised, here it is !
I think it's easier to do messy buns when your hair is curled. my hair is really thin and fine so when mine is curled it has more texture and it holds better. I will either work in some baby powder or spray some dry shampoo in my roots and rub it in completely. then I'll take a light hold hair spray and spray it flipped over then spray it when I'm upright. then I'll take the top layer and slowly release hair while spraying all over my head. (if this doesn't make sense watch my stories because it is much easier to show than tell)
here's the twisting technique I showed y'all on my instastories. I really have no idea how to explain how I do this other than show you lol. so look at my stories or check my "messy bun" highlight to see how I twist it around. it will take a little practice, but once you get it you can do it without a mirror and it'll totally streamline your messy buns !
once I get it where I want it I start randomly pulling pieces to give it a real messy look.
I'll pull out some front hairs to frame my face and I'll pull out some baby hairs to fall on my neck.
then to keep volume and take the focus away from my greasy hair, I tug on the hair in front of the bun. I never tug on the back because the bun will fall down the back and make me look bald lol
and that's it !
