"all the darkness in the world can't put out the light of one candle"
hey guys ! I hope you're having an amazing Thursday, it's been raining for the most part all day which is stinky, but it's okay bc GOD IS STILL GOOD !! anyway, today i want to share with y'all something different ! my bestfriend left for a missions trip at the start of this week to go to Belize. it's only been a few days, but i already miss her like crazy ! this is probably the longest we've gone without seeing each other for months. she's even missing my last dance recital which SUCKS, but i know that she would be there if she could ! but, on her trip she is going to be sharing a message with a group in Belize. before she left she read it to me & i was just in awe, it's such a good message & it's so simple. immediately i had her send it to me & i told her "this HAS to go in my blog!" so, here it is !! i hope you guys are just as blessed by it as i am. :-))
it's amazing what can happen when you're in the presence of God. for me, it's a life-changing experience. I always feel like I'm failing, but in the presence of God I feel redeemed. maybe, like me, you feel like you have to be perfect example for everyone & when you don't succeed you feel like a complete failure & that you can't do anything right. it seems like you are in a dark hole because of your failure & you can't find a light that leads you to redemption. when I was 6 or 7 I was terrified of the dark. the reason being, that every time i would fall asleep I would wake up because of a nightmares. but what always helped me was turning on one light & then I felt safe. in this story the darkness & the nightmares represents the fears in my life caused by Satan; & the light in this story represents God & that you just have to turn on the light to feel safe. that's the same with God, you just have to turn your hearts over to Him & you will be safe in His arms. luckily for us, God gave us the perfect example of finding light in the dark times of our life. in Daniel chapter 6 the Bible talks about Daniel being thrown into the lions' den. King Darius signed a decree that said that no one was allowed to trade any goods so they had to pray to King Darius because David wanted to do what was right. He prayed to God the Father & not to King Darius because he was a loyal follower of God. because of his actions, he was thrown into the inside of the den of lions. Daniel was not fearful, because he knew that God would save him from the lions that night. God sent an angel to shut the mouths of lions so they couldn't harm Daniel. that morning Daniel saw the light of the day & was taken out of the den without a single scratch. maybe, like Daniel, you try to do everything right & you still can't succeed. this is a problem I struggle with every day, whether it be during a sport when I mess up, or at school when I don't get the grade I want, but God constantly reminds me that I am perfect in His eyes & that's all that matters. Psalm 139:13-16 talks about how God created us. “for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. my frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” imagine if you were able to find light in the middle of all the dark times, I ask The Lord that we will be able to remember that He is the light in the dark place & that we just need to come to Him for safety. may we all find light in the darkness. “for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. live as children of light” Ephesians 5:8
"all the darkness in the world can't put out the light of one candle"
Psalm 23:1-6 ESV
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup"
this message is so simple, yet so hard to conquer. it can be SO hard to just hand over your whole life to God, yet we all know that we should. i just love that line about how all the darkness in the world can't put out the light of one candle, that's so cool ! oh yeah, go bestfriend, that's my bestfriend !
so today i want to encourage you to turn on the light & stop letting the traps that Satan set up for you continue to consume you. you are a child of the Most High God & He cares for you & He will protect you from the nasty things of this world. rest in that today & bask in all of His glory today. i want to ask that you guys be in prayer for my bestfriend & the group of women that she is on this missions trip with. please pray for the right words, wisdom, peace, & safety. i so appreciate it & i know they do too !
