Praising God
sometimes i think we forget to praise God. we are always quick to go to God with only our needs or wants & we forget to tell Him how good He is. i think we're all guilty of this. so i want to challenge you to start your prayers with loving words to God. start telling Him how thankful you are for His grace & love. tell Him how holy & mighty He is. call Him by His many names. thank Him for caring for you. thank Him for moving mountains in your life. thank Him for caring enough about you to want relationship with you. thank Him for His Holy Spirit that goes with you always. when you start your prayers by telling God how good He is & recognize how beautiful & awesome God is, it humbles you before the Lord. you recognize your position & put yourself in alignment under God. David does such a good job of praising God. it literally says in the Bible that David danced his clothes off of his body bc he was dancing so hard. okay, yeah that's extreme, but he definitely had the right idea amirite ?? that's a man who knows his place & had a lot of love for the Lord. if you struggle with praising God, take a deeper look at how David praises God in the book of Psalm. pray some of those prayers that David wrote to the Lord out loud. find some of those verses that you relate to & pray them to the Lord. memorize them, get them in your heart, believe them. as you study Psalm & read those words David wrote to God it will become a lot easier & more natural for you to praise God when you pray to Him.
here are some of my fav verses in Psalm that David writes to the Lord.
Psalm 18:1-3 "i love you, O Lord, my strength. the Lord is my rock, my fortress, & my delieverer; my God is my rock, in whom i take refuge. He is my shield & the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. i call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, & i am saved from my enemies."
Psalm 18:19 "He brought me out in into a spacious place; he rescued me bc he delighted in me."
Psalm 18:30-32 "as for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. for who is God, except the Lord ? & who is a rock, except our God ? it is God who arms me with strength, & makes my way perfect."
Psalm 19:1 "the heavens declare the glory of God; & the skies proclaim the work of His hands."
Psalm 19:9 "the fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."
Psalm 19:14 "let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength, & my redeemer."
